Dragon in the Field

Do you remember the good ol' days of Dungeons & Dragons before kits, prestige classes and Half-Orc Barbarian Dragonkind? When people talk about Elves or Halflings, do you think they are both a race and a class? Do thieves and magic-users only get d4 hitpoints and no one expects to break the 20 hitpoint mark until fourth level? Do clerics begin without spells? Well then, welcome home to the newest Classic D&D game in the Kansas City metro area.

What is Classic D&D? It is a version of Dungeons & Dragons published between roughly 1981 and 1995 which some people call Basic. There were numerous additions and revisions but the system was designed for easy game play. I play 3.5 as well but there is nothing quite like playing the original (or Classic) editions.

On the left, you will find links to our session story so far. You may also download the full story in Adobe Acrobat format. We have more information about our group as well as a definition of the original (OD&D) and Classic editions in our "About our group" section. Check out the "Links" section for more information about Classic D&D on the web. Finally, if you are interested in joining us, please follow the "Join the adventure" link. Unfortunately, space is limited.

If you have comments, suggestions or questions, please send me an e-mail. I am always eager to talk about my favorite version of my favorite game and am open to ways to make this site better (Yes, I do plan on switching to style sheets but learned HTML when frames were new).

We recommend Yahoo groups and free e-mail to everyone. To use the free Yahoo! search feature and find more information about Classic D&D:
